The Southeast Association for the Continental Tradition (SEACT) aims to build community among Continental philosophers in the southeastern United States. The location of our annual meeting alternates among member institutions. Each meeting will be devoted to a particular theme agreed upon in advance by our members. As a way of building our new community, we will suggest optional excursions as part of our time together at our annual meetings. We believe that philosophical community extends beyond the confines of the traditional conference format.

By the “Continental tradition,” we aim to be as inclusive as possible and encourage anyone with an interest in Continental thought to submit an abstract for consideration. We also encourage papers related to the practice of teaching within the Continental tradition and across the history of philosophy. Lastly, we invite advanced undergraduates to submit for a special session devoted to their work. Undergraduates should include a letter of recommendation from a faculty member.

Our second annual meeting was hosted virtually by Saint Leo University on April 9-10, 2021. Our third annual meeting will be hosted by New College of Florida in Spring 2022 in Sarasota, FL.
